History

Erected by the turnpike trust on the road from Castle Caereinion to Llanfair Caereinion.

Exterior

A cast iron mile marker of triangular section, the top sloping back to a half-round back plate. Inscribed on the left: CASTLE-C / 1 1/2; on the right: LLANFAIR / 2 1/2; and around the backplate: WELSHPOOL / 5.

Reasons for Listing

Included as the only surviving and well preserved mile marker on this, the earlier, turnpike from Castle Caereinion to Llanfair Caereinion.
