History

Plas Cadnant was built in 1803, the icehouse is likely to be near-contemporary.

Exterior

A rectangular structure c3m x 2.5m x 2.5m deep, sunk into the ground the roof covered with turf, the upper part of the NW end is open with only c50cm of the brick barrel vault visible.

Interior

Built of brick with a barrel vault roof, the floor and walls below the springing line are rendered.

Reasons for Listing

Listed as a good, well-preserved example of an ice house associated with a gentry house of the early C19 for which it formed part of the domestic offices.
