History

Churchyard monuments of the early-mid C19.

Exterior

Two chest tombs set side by side, from the N:-

(a) Sandstone. Gothic end pilaster blcoks amd moulded side panels with lobed corners, set on a chamfered base and with an edge-moulded ledger slab, to Thomas Griffith, d. 1840. aged 8 months, Griffith David, his father, d. 1863, and daughter Ann added.

(b) Sandstone. Reeded end pilaster blocks, and sides with a raised panel. Moulded ledger slab. To David Jones of Ballas, d. 1830, and others, including Thomas Jones, d.1832 and Ann Roberts, daughter, d. 1889 added to the back.

Reasons for Listing

Included as a pair of churchyard monuments of constrasting styles. Of group value with the Grade I St James' Church.
