History

The wall is probably of the later C17, part of the scheme devised by Sir Thomas Myddleton in 1675 to extend the park to the S and E to hold 500 deer.

Exterior

A boundary wall of rubble stone, with a heavy stone-on-edge coping wider than the wall overhanging both sides. The wall is approximately 2m high, and follows the contour of the ground, but is broken for the driveway.

Reasons for Listing

Included as a significant element of the late C17 park layout at Chirk, and of group value with Deerpark Lodge.
