History

Inter war classical front to former Marments department store. Store converted to Queen's West shopping precinct.

Exterior

Portland stone department store front of 5 bays. Upper levels have giant order of fluted Roman Doric columns; unfluted pillars to ends. Entablature with bosses to frieze, dentil cornice and parapet. Bays glazed with classicising metal framework (painted to imitate verdigris) on three storeys of tripartite windows with wreaths, key patterns, pediments over 1st floor windows (replaced in centre bay).

On ground floor, end pilasters with cartouches with monogram "LM" enclose modern shopfront.

Interior

Modernised.

Included as fine classical department store front, despite loss of interior.
