Location: The milepost is set in the NE verge of the old turnpike road from Mallwyd to Dolgellau, approximately 15m from the line of the present A470 SE of Pont Cerist.

The old road from Welshpool to the west coast over Bwlch Oerddrws was re-marked by the Turnpike trust in the early C19.
The milepost is of cast iron, painted white with a black plinth. It is of triangular section open at the back, and enlarged at the top, with a sloping front gusset. Raised and painted lettering reading, on the left: DINAS / MAWDDWY / 1 and on the right DOLGELLEY / 9.
Reasons for Listing
Included as the only surviving cast iron milepost on this section of the road, and one in a good state of preservation.
