A milestone probably set up at the start of the Mallwyd to Welshpool turnpike established under the
Montgomeryshire Turnpikes Act of 1769.

Exterior

A slate milestone about 0.5 m high, with splayed top corners. It indicates ''Machynlleth / 19 miles /
Mallwyd 7½ / Can=office 4½ / Pool 19''. Defaced benchmark at top.
