History

Milestone on turnpike road from Llangurig to Aberystwyth via Devil's Bridge, for which trust was established in 1770. Probably mid C19. The new turnpike, present A44, through Ponterwyd opened in 1812.

Exterior

Milestone with curved top and inscription 'Aberystwyth 14 miles', the town name in capitals curved around head of the stone, numerals below and Miles in lower case. Similar to stones on A44.
