Listed Buildings in Caersws, Powys

  1. II Caersws bridge
    The bridge carries the A.489 Newtown to Machynlleth Road over the River Severn immediately at the S end of the village.
  2. II Caersws Railway Station, with Stationmaster's House Photos
    The railway passes to the W of the village. The station lies immediately N of the level crossing, and is attached to the signal box.
  3. II Capel Saron MC with Caretaker's House, and enclosing railings
    Located on rising ground on the W side of the narrowed valley of the Afon Garno, within the scattered village of Pont-dĂ´l-goch.
  4. II* Church of St Gwynog/Cynog
    The church is located in a raised oval churchyard at the centre of the village of Llanwnog, which was later extended to the S to border the B.4568.
  5. II Dol-aethnen
    Located at the end of Market Lane, beyond the cattle market, on the bank of the wider River Severn before its width was restricted by bunds.
  6. II Engine Shed to the Van Line
    The building, now used as a store, is located in the industrial yard, some 80m W of the present railway crossing, and in the angle of the main Cambrian line and the former Van branch line.
  7. II Gilfach-y-rhiw
    Located on gently rising ground at the foot of Allt-y-genlli, and accessed by a farm road off the main Caersws to Machynlleth road, 1km N of the village of Clatter.
  8. II Gwyneira with attached farm buildings
    The house is aligned along the road encircling the churchyard, approximately 75m from its junction with the B.4568 to Newtown, and is at the S end of a range of farm buildings.

    The farmhouse is located on a river terrace above the River Severn valley, 3Km E of Llanwnog village, and is reached by a farm road by the side of 'Aelbryn'
  10. II Llys Maldwyn Hospital
    The Hospital is located at the end of Main Street, approximately 1km NE of the centre of the village.
  11. II* Maesmawr Hall Hotel
    The hotel is located in the Severn valley bottom, at the end of a formal axial drive off the main Newtown to Llanidloes Road, 700m E of the junction with the A.470 to Machynlleth and level crossing.

    The milestone is now located in the narrow road verge, under the garden hedge of 'Aelbryn', approx 1km E of the village centre.

    Located in the road verge, approximately 30m S of the junction with Wig Lane at Weig Lane railway crossing.
  14. II Milestone W of village
    The milestone is now located in the wide grass verge, 250m from the junction of the B.4568 with the main A.490 Caersws to Machynlleth road.
  15. II Pen-y-borfa fawr
    Located approximately 1Km N of Caersws village, with its gable end to the road.
  16. II Perth-eiryn
    Located on a farm road leading S off the main Newtown to Caersws road, 300m N of the village centre.

    The farmhouse is located on a platform above the left bank of the Afon Carno, on a farm road leading off the lane from the A.470 to Bwlch-y-garreg.
  18. II Pont-dol-goch Station and Stationmaster's House
    The railway station stands on a high bank directly north of the road bridge under the line, and is accessed from the main Caersws to Machynlleth Road, near the centre of the village.
  19. II Rhydlydan Mill
    The mill lies on the N side of the Newtown to Llanwnog road, in the valley of the Rhyd-ros-lan, which formed the ancient boundary of the Cantref of Arwystli.
  20. II Signal Box at Caersws Railway Station Photos
    Located on the W edge of Caersws village, beside the level crossing, and with attached railway station to the NW.
  21. II Telephone Call-box (01686 688564)
    Located in the centre of the township, in front of the row of buildings which includes the former village post office, and opposite the churchyard boundary wall.
  22. II* Ty Coch house, sawmill, carpenters’ workshop, waterwheel and attached machinery
    Set down on the N side of the A470, and just above the River Carno to the N, and reached by tracks to the front and rear of the property.
  23. II Wig Bridge
    Located on Wig Lane, which connects the main A.470 Caersws to Machynlleth road to the B4569 from Caersws to Trefeglwys, approximately 1.75Km N of Caersws centre.
