Church of All Saints

A Grade II Listed Building in Loughborough, Leicestershire

Church of All Saints, Thorpe Acre Road, Loughborough

A new west porch has been added to the narthex. The west wall below the bell cote has been opened and a lower extension built, which admits light through a cross of square panes. The deep red of the brick patio has been brought up into the church via the stained wood doors panels and window casings. This colour contrasts sharply with the existing ashlar and the new stone cladding. The new stone will always be distinguished from the old by its uniformity of size. The ornamental Japanese cherry and silver birch trees may undermine the lot, however. (Photo Oct 2008).
