6/196 Garden walls south west of Trefusis
House

Kitchen garden walls. C18. Flemish bond brick, stone rubble and some granite
dressings. Roughly rectangular walled area longer on the north south axis and
sloping down to south overlooking Carrick Roads estuary. 2 doorways to principal
west wall with brick facing on inner side. Most southerly doorway has granite
square-on-plan gate-piers with moulded plinths, rusticated ashlar bands and moulded
cornices to flat caps. Wrought iron gate is hung between 2 inner wrought iron piers
with shallow ramped handrail on either side. Construction of vertical square bars,
closer spaced as rabbit barrier at base and with scrolled decoration to shaped top
rails.
