7.11.66 Odstone Hill Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse with country house pretensions. Later C18. Stucco lined as
ashlar with hipped slate roof and stuccoed stacks behind ridge. 3
storeys with sill band to first floor windows and over-sailing moulded
cornice; reduced proportions to second floor. Regular 3 window front
with slightly projecting pedimented centre bay; tripartite glazing bar
sashes with horns. 9-panel door to centre with raised and fielded
panels, the upper lights glazed; flanking Doric pilasters and open
pediment containing a fanlight with webbed glazing bars. The door is
approached by 2 steps. Set back to each side of the house is a single
storey, single-bay pavillion with hipped roof; that to the right is
surmounted by a louvre. Interior: on the back wall of the right hand
front room are 3 round-headed niches, the central one larger than the
others.
