Shop. C15 or earlier. Timber-frame with render and plain tile
gabled roofs.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, with part with higher eaves line to
north-west continuous with eaves of No.86 (qv); 2-window
range. 1st floor has 2 flush horizontal-sliding casement
windows with moulded surrounds and small panes. Ground floor
has C19 shop front with tall fascia and recessed entrance.
Passage entrance to north-west has early C19 moulded flat
canopy on console from thin pilasters and 4-panel door.
INTERIOR: south-east part with lower eaves was part of
timber-framed structure with No.90 (qv). This has 2 tie beams
(now in No.90) and possibly formed a C15 or earlier open hall.
The north-west part is former half of a small timber-framed
cross-wing which the other half now forms part of No.86. This
cross-wing has widely spaced studs with external curved wall
brace on south-east flank. The central tie beam has been cut
through flush with the roof plate.
