13 Murals painted by French Officers of the Napoleonic War billeted in the town.
The murals at Council House were painted by Pierre Augeraud. He was repatriated in France but returned to Llanfyllin to seek the Rector's daughter and the two eventually married and lived in the Loire Valley in France.
