The fourth is the many - quartered shield of Welby with, in pretence (indicating that his wife was an heiress) the arms of Cope (Argent, between three stemmed roses proper, on a chevron sable as many fleurs de lys of the first).. This is the hatchment of Sir William Welby, 1st Bt (died 1815), the grandson of Richard Welby and includes the red hand of Ulster, denoting a baronet. (Photo Sept 2012).
