History

Probably an C18 cottage, with large square stack characteristic of the period, converted for use as a farm building in the C20.

Exterior

A single-storey cottage of rubble stone and corrugated iron roof (replacing former thatch), with large square stone stack to the L. Openings are under wooden lintels. The wide doorway L of centre is boarded up. To its R are 2 irregularly placed windows, of which only the R-hand has glazing. The R gable end is overgrown. The L gable end has an added projection, roofless at the time of inspection.

Reasons for Listing

Listed as a rare surviving and well-preserved small vernacular dwelling, a type once common in the district.
