Early C19 block of 2 storeys, with basement to the hotel. Coursed stone. The hotel
is lower on the hill so that the 1st floor windows align with those on the ground
floor of the other houses. 3 windows, the centre blocked, to the hotel, 2 to
the others, cill bands. The ground floor of No 70 has reeded pilasters, entablature
and brackets to cornice to shop window, and 1 window to the right. Both have round-headed
doorways with keystones and impost blocks. The door of No 68 has 6 panels, 2 glazed,
but the door of No 70 is now half-glazed. The lower floor of the hotel has a 3-light
window, a stone porch and 1 other window. The rear of the hotel has a moulded
eaves cornice and rusticated quoins. 3 windows, strings at cills, lintels. Round-
headed doorway, with hotels name on entablature, moulded cornice. Included for
group value.
