TL 17 NE ALCONBURY THE MALTINGS
(South Side)

of Manor Farmhouse
21.7.51 (Formerly listed with Manor
- II Farmhouse as outbuildings)

Late C17 or early C18 barn. Local red brick, plain tile roof
with parapet gables and kneelers, saw-tooth brick eaves
cornice. Two storeys. Brick band between floors and plinth.
Butt-purlin roof of eight bays almost intact, and floor frame.
End bay to east a malting with vent in situ but malting floor
removed. Lean-to to south-east. North facing elevation has
four small windows in segmental arches at both floor levels and
one plank pitching door and one ground floor door. Interior has
pump dated 1778.
