Substantial house within its own grounds in village. Circa 1830 and later C19 rear
service wing. Incised stucco with dry Delabole slate hipped roofs and axial brick
stacks. 2 room, central stair, rear passage plan plus small original rear wing to
right of stair (later wing beyond) and double depth bay to right plus single storey
room to rear of passage. 2 storeys. 1:1:1+1 bay south front. Plinth, string,
moulded cornice and plain parapet. Panelled piers divided by string and first floor
ones with consoles over. First 3 bays with central bay as full height semi circular
projection have round headed, moulded architraves in recesses and hoodmoulds with
lion's head stops: original sashes with round headed fanlights and traceried glazing
bars to centre with central taller sash and one over bowed with curved glass. Right
bay recessed with moulded window architrave. All windows to first floor have
moulded architraves with corner blocks and all sills have pair of shell consoles
under. Except for 20-pane hornless sash to ground floor of second bay all windows
are original 16-pane hornless sashes. Rear has semi circular on plan stair
projection with original bowed round headed sash with curved glass.
West, entrance front has doorway, left with original panelled door and fanlight with
intersecting glazing. Doric like porch with guttae and slender columns. 16-pane
sash over and left of door in single storey wing. Round headed window to right,
blind as is window over, otherwise detail is similar to south front.
Interior is virtually intact including original geometric stair with wreathed
mahogany handrail snd stick balusters with plinths; mahogany panelled doors, moulded
architraves, panelled reveals, moulded plaster ceiling cornices and bands (1 with
fluting) and some chimney pieces.
