One building containing saddler's shop, carpenter's shop, forge and wheelwright's
shop, on the Cotehele estate. Mid C19 with few later alterations. Slatestone rubble
with brick dressings. Slate roof, hipped over the main range and with a gable end to
the front wing; stack at the left side to the forge.
Plan: The building is an overall L-plan, with the front wing to left containing the
forge, with a stack at the left side. The main range is built into the bank at the
rear, with the saddler's shop and carpenter's shop at the upper level and the
wheelwright's shop below.
Exterior: 2 storeys; the main range has 2 round-arched brick openings with double
doors. 10-pane ventilation window to left with brick segmental head and 2-pane light
above in gabled dormer. Single storey wing to left has 2 doors with upper ventilator
sections at the inner side. The gabled end of the wing has a 5-light window with
round-arched brick opening over with ventilation louvres. The left side has a door.
In the main range at the left side, there is a 7-light window at ground and first
floor and a gablet with ventilation louvres on the hip of the roof. The right side
has 6-light window at ground floor and similar gablet. At the rear, at upper ground
floor level, there is a door to right and left with double doors at the right end.
