Description

HAYLE COMMERCIAL ROAD (south side), Hayle
SW 5637-5737
11/77 Nos 44 and 46

GV II
Pair of houses. Circa mid C19. Stuccoed front. Grouted scantle slate roof over
left-hand house (No 44), replaced with asbestos slate over other house. Wide eaves. Brick chimneys over the gable ends.
Plan: Double depth plan. Pair of identical houses, each with a reception room
at the front and with their entrance halls set back within a large shared porch within the depth of the building. Presumably each entrance hall leads to a
stair hall and the kitchens are behind the front rooms.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 4 window front with stucco plinth, rusticated quoin strips, and similar rustications to wide central elliptically-arched doorway. Set back within the doorway are 2 original 3-panelled doors with overlights. Original 12-pane hornless sashes.
Interior: not inspected. Probably retains its original features and joinery.
