One of the earliest houses in the centre of Ryde, circa 1780. L-shaped
house. Two storeys and attic. Three windows, two dormers. Red brick and
grey headers. Wooden cornice. Tiled roof. Glazing bars missing. The
house has been defaced by the addition of a porch, above which has been
built a jettied first floor like a box, of which the lower half is of
wood and the upper half of stained glass. The main part of the house
is No 48. The West wing behind is No 46.
