(Grange Farmhouse)

2.
Late C16. Large house of E plan. Two-storeys. Parts of the old timber frame remain within the brick (and part rendered) external walls. The front has 1.4.1 windows with end gables forward of a large hipped roof; at the rear the roof falls to a ground floor eaves, with 2-storey wings (one hipped one gabled) and a central staircase wing capped by a hipped roof. Massive centre and south stacks with diagonal flues, on single weathered base.
The house site marks one of the earliest points of settlement, the present building probably succeeding earlier ones.
