SJ 88 SW WILMSLOW FORMER U.D. MANCHESTER ROAD

Cottage).

Formerly farmhouse, now house: dated 1701 but probably early C17 with
later C18 outshut and C20 alterations and additions. Roughcast,
partly over timber framing, Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge and
4 brick chimneys. Long rectangular plan. 1½-storey 7-bay front.
Left 2 bays hidden by later C18 outshut with small windows, with
glazing bars. Adjacent 2 bays have glazed verandah with exposed
timber framing behind with a 4-light diamond wood mullioned window
with applied lead glazing and a 2-light casement. Between is a
restored plaque reading TDH 1701. 5th bay is a gabled crossing with
2-light casements and door in left side. 2 bays to right are probably
C20 extensions.
Interior: Heavy chamfered ceiling beams and joists visible.
