Signal box. 1902-3. For London and North Western and Great
Western Railway Joint Committee. Brick with weatherboarded top
storey and slate roof. 4 storeys, comprising locking room with
interlocking in lower storeys, operating floor above. 6-window
range of small casements to 1st and 2nd floors, various doors
to ground floor and two 3-light casements to top floor, facing
track. Full-length range of horizontal sliding sash windows to
operating floor, with doorway up flight of steps. Full length
projecting gangway which is repeated on the gable ends as are
the windows. Inside is a 120-lever interlocking frame with
associated block shelves and working instruments.
Part of an outstanding group of buildings including Shrewsbury
Railway Station (qv) and Severn Bridge Junction Signal Box
(qv), built as part of a single improvement scheme for
Shrewsbury Station.
