Description

NORTH HILL
SX 27 NE
4/143 2 Cottages adjoining on north west
of butchers shop
GV II
Pair of cottages. Probably C17. Stone rubble, the left hand cottage rendered on
front. Rag slate roof with gable ends. Stone rubble end stacks, the left hand stack
projecting.
Plan: Original arrangement uncertain. The left hand cottage has a one-room plan
with entrance on right and room on left heated by end stack. The right hand cottage
has a one or two room plan, the right hand room heated by an end stack. The rear
elevation and interior was not accessible so it is uncertain whether the left hand
room is heated. It is possible that the two cottages were originally one house of
three room and passage plan.
Exterior: Two storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window front with C19 and replacement C20
windows with glazing bars. 3-light casement and C20 porch on left with 2-light
casement and 3-light casement to right. Three gabled half dormers with 3-light and
2-light casements.
Rear elevation not accessible.
Interior not accessible.
