SK 93 SE OLD SOMERBY SCHOOL LANE

5/50 The Old Rectory

Former rectory now house; c.1700 with later C18, C19 and C20 alterations and
additions. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and bay windows. Slate
roof with coped stone gables and ball finials. Rear wing in coursed limestone
with brick dressings to C19 part, having slate roof and 3 stone stacks. L shaped
plan, rear wing being C18 and C19, 2 storey with garret, plain parapet and cornice
4 bay facade with central added C20 porch, flanked by 2 C19 rectangular bay
windows, all with flat roofs behind parapet and cornice. Bay windows tripartite
glazing bar sash. To 1st floor 4 glazing bar sashes with splayed stone lintels,
those at the end are central over the bay windows. Interior has 6 panelled
doors with moulded architraves and C18/19 fireplace surrounds moved from elsewhere,
