GV II


Farmhouse. Circa early C17, possibly with earlier fabric and
with C19 alterations. Timber-framed box-frame with square panels
infilled with painted brick. Machine tile roof with gabled ends.
Large rendered brick axial stack.
PLAN: 1 storey and attic 2-room plan main SE range with 1 storey
and attic wing to NW forming L-shaped plan with porch in the SW
angle. Large axial stack at junction of the ranges probably
serves all three rooms.
EXTERIOR: 2 storey and attic SE range has large central gable on
SE front and various small casements. Small framing, jowled
posts and short tension braces. Later lean-to porch in SW angle
with plank door inside and later C19 open work porch on NE side
also with plank door. Cl9 single storey range of outbuildings
attached to NW gabled end.
INTERIOR: said to have moulded cross-beams and joists and
blocked fireplace; other rooms have chamfered ceiling beams.
