919-0/33/10022 Paddock Lock 5E, Paddock Foot

GV II

Narrow pound lock. 1794-98 with C19 and C20 alterations. Designed by Benjamin Outram. Hammer dressed stone chamber with stone copings. Single wooden head gate with manual iron ground paddle gearing. Double tail gates with integral gate iron paddle gearing. C20 wooden plank and rails footbridge. C19 steps at tail end. Coursed stone overflow weir with visible large stone cascade at the tail. Unusually, the lock is an integral structure with Paddock Foot Aqueduct, the overflow weir beginning within the aqueduct span. Included for group value.
