2 gatepiers at north entrance to grounds at Leigh House. Probably early/mid C19.
Ashlar. Approximately 12ft high (set wide apart) of plain rusticated blocks
supporting and entablature with semi-circular lunettes to tops. Moulded plinths.
To these piers are joined walls, also of ashlar with coping, which continue to
east and west around the grounds. The wall to east (approximately 10ft high)
runs for a short distance only. The wall to west (approximately 3ft rising to
8ft) continues for some distance along the road before it turns to the south.
at this same corner a further wall of rubble runs towards the house. At the end
nearest to the house this wall is ashlar-faced (approximately 8 to 10 ft high)
and has plain pilasters and coping.
Leigh House forms a group with walls and gatepiers to north and west.
