SO 23 NE MICHAELCHURCH ESCLEY CP -

1/21 Blaenau Cottage about
20 yards south of
- Blaenau Farmhouse

GV II

Cottage. Probably C17 or early C18. Rubble, corrugated iron roof, brick
end stack to rear. Two cell plan. One storey and attic, 2 bays. Two
C19 casements to ground floor, one in gable above, entrance via heavy
pegged door frame, mid-C19 ledged door under dripstone to right hand
side. Corrugated roofed extension to right of entrance. Interior plank
and muntin screen with segmental chamfered door head divides ground floor
into 2 rooms, C19 bread oven to right of door which partly obscures large
C17 fireplace. Staircase position was probably to left of fireplace. Roof
has one truss with 3 purlins to each slope. Upper floor removed.
