House, formerly farmhouse. Built in 1737 reusing timber from a late medieval hall -
house altered in C20. Exterior brick faced in pebble-dash on plinth of large sandstone
blocks. Tiled roof with end brick chimney-stacks rendered over. End chimney-stack
house of 2 storeys, attics and cellars. 3 windows. At time of survey the 1st floor
windows were being replaced by wooden casements with leaded lights. 1 modern flat
roofed dormer. Ground floor has 5 light C20 bay with penticed tiled hood above.
Central doorcase with sandstone moulded cornice with the initials T and P S and the
date 1737. 4 panelled mid C19 door, the top 2 panels glazed. Side elevation has
small window to attic and C20 bays below. Catslide roof to rear and C20 brick extension.
Large room on ground floor has large open fireplace with wooden bressummer with run
out stops and early C16 dais beam with roll moulding to other side. The smaller ground
floor room has a sandstone chimneybreast with wooden bressumer with run out stops.
1st floor end right bedroom has C18 brick fireplace with round-headed arch. Central
bedroom has early C17 beam with lambs tongue stop. Jowled post and reused beam with
mortises for diamond mullioned window, not in situ as jowled post bisects mortises.
Roof originally of angled queen-struts but these have been removed. Some plank doors.
