Workshop and office block. Early C19, with mid C19 and late
C19 alterations. Stuccoed brick, with slate roofs and 3 brick
ridge stacks.
3 storeys; 4 x 9 windows. Front has plinth, quoins and
dentilled wooden eaves. Windows are set in narrow vertical
panels with square panels between the ground floor and first
floor windows. Between the first and second floor windows, a
framed stucco panel with the legend "Herbert M Slater Ltd.".
First floor has four 12 pane sashes, the 2 to right with plain
glass lower lights. Above, 3 plain sashes and one 9 pane sash.
Ground floor has a central round-arched wooden doorcase with
pilasters and cornice, and panelled door with fanlight. On
either side, 2 barred plain sashes. Left gable has 2 enamel
signs reading "Slaters" and "Venture Works". On the second
floor, four 2-light metal casements. Below, 2 doors, the left
one with overlight. Workshop, to left, has 9 small 2-light
casements on the ground floor and first floor, and ten 2-light
metal casements on the second floor.
