Old Town Cottage

Town house. 1841-2. Stucco; fishscale-tile roof with brick end
stacks. L-plan. Victorian-Tudor style.
2 storeys; 3-window range; lean-to ground floor with 2 gabled
projections; pilasters to 1st floor and Tudor arches to
gables, which have decorative barge-boards and finials.
Entrance in recess to left of centre has overlight to
half-glazed door, both with decorative glazing; recessed
carriage entrance to right end has similar blind overlight to
paired battened doors with ogival heads. Gabled projections
have French windows with overlights and flanking single
lights, all with decorative glazing, as have windows to 1st
floor, with chamfered reveals and label moulds over
cross-casements. Stacks have fluted shafts, retaining caps to
right end. Rear has simpler gabled wing.
The house has details in common with Nos 17-19A Old Town, Nos
14 & 15 Warwick Road and houses in Bishopton (qv).
