ST 58 SE ALMONDSBURY BADGER'S LANE (east side) Over

11/2 Over Farmhouse

Farmhouse, now house. Mid-late C17, remodelled c.1840 and altered C20. Rubble,
roughcast at front and sides, ashlar dressings including plinth, slate roof at
front, double Roman and pantiled at rear, stone gable stacks and stack to right
of front door, diagonally set chimneys and stone roof ridge. U-plan, former
cross-passage. Tudor Gothic front. 2 storeys and 3 windows, door with 4-
centered arch and drip mould in central porch with coped verges and kneelers.
Ground floor windows in canted bays, 1st floor windows with dripmould, all
casements with Tudor arched heads and octagonal glazed leaded lights, cornice and
embattled parapet. 2 wings to rear, 2-storey and 3 bay dairy wing to left,
single storey to right, irregular windows. Rear of main block has 2 ground
floor windows of same design as front, and one 3-light casement under timber
lintel at 1st floor. Ground floor rear window replaces former cross-passage
door. Interior: C17 front door with 4-centred arched head, studs and strap
hinge, chamfered beams, some boxed in, well in rear courtyard.
