19/150 The Bury Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Early C18 with early C19 and C20 alterations. Red brick painted,
and timber-framed with roughcast render. Plain tiled roofs. Two storeys with
attics and cellar. Double pile plan with single storey bakehouse range to
north. Brick gable walls with end stacks; symmetrical three 'bay'
timber-framed facade. C19 panelled door with rectangular fanlight and flat
canopy supported on shaped brackets. Two ground floor and three first floor
early C19 flush-framed twelve-paned hung sash windows. Painted brick plinth
and coved eaves cornice. Interior: Early C18 panelling with deep moulded
cornice in south-west room, and early C19 reed-moulded chimney piece.
Original C18 panelled door, plain first floor doors, and boarded attic doors.
Large open hearth with replaced mantel beam in south-east room. Some exposed
timber-frame of internal walls. The farmhouse is sited to the south of a
moated site.
