Hotel. Dated 1794. Colourwashed stucco with black-painted terracotta or stone
dressings. Concealed roof. Double pile. 3 storeys and cellar; 3-bay front.
Chamfered plinth, band courses at first and second floor levels, moulded
cornice, coped parapet. Outer bays have 3-storey bowed projections with small
cornices, triple sashes in raised surrounds, and cellar windows. Centre bay
also has triple sashes to upper storeys, all sashes with glazing bars. Central
half-glazed door with ornamental radiating fanlight, in doorcase with half-
columns, fluted capitals and open dentilled pediment. Door is approached by
double curved flights of stone steps with wrought-iron railings. Flanking C20
extensions, incorporating former stable buildings, are not of special archi-
tectural interest. Interior: ground floor left room has fine plaster ceiling
of contemporary date, with sunburst, cornice, and frieze with bucrania and swag.
