Description

19th century, probably raised in later part of the century.

Square plan dovecot in red rubble sandstone with droved

ashlar dressings; ashlar rat course, eaves course and

recessed panel with flight holes. S side with doorway

at ground and window opening above, both off-centre to left;

12 flight holes in row above rat course under eaves. Narrow

openings to E and W at ground, and to upper stages; blind

opening to N upper stage. Grey slate pyramidal roof and simple weathervane. Some louvring to narrow openings.

Statement of Interest

Dovecot on estate of Thurston House (demolished 1952), sited

by stables of a similar date.
