Description

William Adam, earlier 18th century. 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan former lodge with single storey early additions to E and W and 2-storey later 19th century addition to rear. Rubble sandstone, squared and stugged dressings and painted margins. Harl pointing.

S ELEVATION: broad door at centre (panelled door) flanked by windows at ground, all with relieving arches. 1st floor windows breaking eaves in slate piend-roofed dormerheads.

E AND W ELEVATIONS: single bay gabled addition with window to S and gablehead stack to E. Lean-to addition to W with door on returns to N and S. Both additions with ashlar coped skews. Shouldered stacks to 2-storey wallhead.

N ELEVATION: largely blank with small window at ground to outer right; 2-storey addition to left with stone forestair in re-entrant angle (iron railings, under stair window) and door on W return breaking eaves in piend-roofed dormerhead; wallhead stack to N.

8-pane glazing pattern in sash and case windows. Grey slate piended roofs with lead flashings.
