History

Mid C19 farmhouse, one of the outlying properties of the Llynon estate and built to accommodate the farmer and miller of Melin Llynon. Built for Humphrey Stanley Jones of Llynon Hall, a datestone over the main entrance reads: H S J / 1849.

Exterior

Mid C19 farmhouse. A 2 storey, 3-window range with lower 2 storey single window service wing in line at L (N) end with further single storey wing to far L (N) end, and another set at right angles to rear. Built of local rubble masonry, some elevations rendered; slate roof with rendered rectangular gable stacks. The main farmhouse range has 12-pane hornless sash windows, and central modern doorway; ground floor openings with rough stone voussoir heads. The storeyed wing to L is a single window range with modern door offset to far R and small paned replacement casement windows to L. The single storey wing to L has a wide doorway offset to far R and has a single window in the N gable.

Reasons for Listing

Listed as a well-preserved mid C19 farmhouse, retaining its vernacular character and some original detail. Ty'r Felin forms a group with the adjacent Melin Llynon and was built for the miller and his family.
