of Rokeby Park

Sundial on medieval shaft. Grey limestone with fossil corals. The shaft,
of semi-octagonal plan, has a moulded cap and carved heraldry on the front
faces. Later square base. The shaft may have formed part of a tomb recess,
probably of C15 date, probably brought from Egglestone Abbey (q.v.).

C20 bronze sundial is not of interest.
