24/138 (inset) 5 Walton tombs
and one Bell tomb
circa 14 metres
south of porch of
Church of St. Mary

6 headstones, dated 1749 to 1818, with inscriptions to members of Walton
family to 1876 (Christian names William, John,Elizabeth and George) and to
Mary Bell. All sandstone ashlar slabs, from c.0.5 to 0.8 metre high, with
shaped top. Some have verses on rear:

1. Elizabeth, died 1772:'Farewell vain world I must thee leave/To dust I
must return/For out of it I first was made/Therefore forbear to mourn/
Twas in the dawning of my years/That Death to me was sent/To you that
have a longer time/Be careful to repent/For in my health I litle thought/
My glass was run so near/But now the time for me is come/No longer to be

2. Elizabeth, died 1720: 'All things will turn for good/If you the Lord do
fear this is/the charge I leave to you my/Children dear stick close unto/
this God of mine, which I have/found so true and what you see/hes done
for me heel do the/same for you.
