1. DANBURY MAIN ROAD

TL 7705 29/64 10.4.67.
A timber-framed and plastered house re-fronted in red brick in the C18. 2 storeys,
attics and cellars. The front is divided into 2 bays by brick pilasters with
moulded brick caps and bases. The east part has 2 window range and the west
has 3 window range and the centre part, of 1 window range, breaks forward slightly,
The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, in flush cased frames.
An 8-panel door has a wood doorcase with panelled reveals, fluted pilasters,
pulvinated frieze and a modillion pediment. The door is approached by steps.
Roof tiled, with 2 hipped dormer windows to the west bay of the front. The
interior has been much altered. There are exposed beams and some C18 panelling.
The Chantry and Lingwood House with Nos 58 and 60 The Griffin Inn form a group.
