Listing Text

1/9 Long Entry Cottage


Handed pair of early C19 cottages, now combined. Timber framed, roughcast
rendered, roof thatched. Aligned approx. E-W, gable end to street, with central
chimney stack, aspect S. 2 plain boarded doors, 2 C19 casement windows, 2 more
in swept dormers. One upper window has original glazing, of small rectangular
leaded panes, in the casement only. The interior has chamfered axial beams,
exposed joists and rafters. The tithe map of 1840 shows that there were then
4 cottages in a line, of which the eastern pair have been demolished.
