TL 6730 GREAT BARDFIELD CROWN STREET

GV II

House. Circa 1500, altered in C17 and C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed
with handmade red clay tiles. 2-bay range facing W, C17, and 2-bay crosswing to
right, c.1500. 2 C19 stacks arched together over entrance hall to form one
stack above. C19 extension with pitched roof of red pantiles to rear of
crosswing. C20 extension, 2 storeys with flat roof, to rear of main range. 2
storeys. 2-window range of C20 casements. Half-glazed door in early C19
doorcase with shallow hood on scrolled brackets. Exposed high collar on gable
of left return. The interior of the crosswing has jowled posts, boxed binding
beam, cambered tiebeam and complete crownpost roof with axial braces. The left
range has primary straight bracing, a chamfered axial beam, and thin joists.
