House with 2 integral cottages to left. C17/C18 with C19 and later alterations
and additions. Timber framed and plastered main ranges and rear wing,
weatherboarded left range. Red plain tile main ranges of 2 levels, hipped to
right, grey slate left range angled and hipped to road. 3 red brick chimney
stacks. 2 storeys and cellar. 1:1:4 first floor, 1:1:2 ground floor windows,
all small paned vertically sliding sashes, including a hipped bay to ground
floor right. Left and right 6 panelled doors with moulded surrounds, pediment
to right and porch with round headed archway to left. Nos. 38 and 40 set in
angle of rear wing and left range with 2:1 window range and a board door each.
Interior features include chamfered bridging joists, 6 panelled doors with
moulded surrounds, some with corner lugs. Cast iron fire surround. Moulded
cornices to some rooms. Archways to first floor landing.
