(Delburn House)


Formerly one house, now house (No. 38) and three flats (No. 40).
Mid C18. Projecting ashlar facade to No. 38, rubble stone to No.
40, both with Cotswold stone slate roof and stone stacks. L-plan
with rear projecting wing to right and front range with 2 rear
projecting gables to No. 38. 3 storeys. No. 38: Heavy moulded
cornice returned at both ends with dentils and attic storey. 2
windows, 12-pane sashes with moulded stone architraves and moulded
sills on brackets. Ground floor has 2 similar with moulded stone
architraves and delicate cornices with dentils and pulvinated
friezes. 12-pane sashes with plain architraves to attic storey.
Rear has 12-pane sashes with cambered heads with plain stone
architraves and keystones. Ground floor front room retains fine
wood wall panelling. No. 40: Two windows, 16-pane sashes with
wooden architraves, nearly flush. Ground floor has 2 similar and
one door in angle with flat moulded stone hood supported by one
large decorated console to right.
Interior altered during conversion to flats in 1970's and rear wing
also heavily restored at this time. North outer wall of rear wing
has 2 small blocked stone arches.
