10/228 Baptist Church

II

Baptist Church. 1817, carved in top of gable to south. Coursed
and dressed stone with quoins on plinth, slate roof. Single
rectangular range of 2 storeys. South gable end has moulded string
course and verge giving effect of pediment with radial semi-
circular light above string course. Two 9-pane sashes on first
floor with large flush stone lintels and keystones. Two 12-pane
sashes below. Central recessed double doors of 3 recessed panels
each in semi-circular soffit with large decorative radial fanlight.
Interior has balcony at south end supported on small columns,
probably of iron, with staircase in south east corner. Preaching
box still visible at north end, but interior not accessible.
