3/174 Church Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Mid C17, enlarged later C17. Rubble stone with dressed
stone quoins, stone slate roof, stone end stack to left with brick
flue, probable end stone stacks to earlier part now adjoining end
of higher later section also with brick flue, stone end stack to
south end of right hand wing. 'L'-shape with apparently older wing
to right of 2 storeys. Main wing of 2 storeys and attic. Main
section has 4 windows, moulded stone frames originally with stone
mullions and transoms now with leaded long paired wooden casements
except for bay 3 which is blind with trompe l'oeil window painted
on to stonework. Ground floor has three 4-pane sashes in similar
moulded frames, with continuous dripmould above. Brick porch with
stone quoins probably of C19 conceals internal angle and original
doorway. Two small gabled dormers with twin casements. Right hand
wing has leaded wooden casements, some with original timber lintel,
some renewed. North gable end of this wing has 2, 3 and 4-light
stone-mullions with square hoodmould, above each other, with
original 2-light replaced by longer window and east side also has
some stone mullioned windows remaining. Small single storey wing
on south gable end with half hipped roof.
