Two attached houses. Mid-late C17. Random and coursed rubble
limestone; brick and concrete rebuilt chimneys; stone slate roof,
plain tile to Lower Court Cottage. Two-storey with attic. L-
plan. Part of south end of Lower Court Cottage is built into
Ferndale (q.v.). North side: 2 gables, 2-window fenestration to
upper floor and attic, paired casements to ground floor left under
combined hoodmould and casement with timber lintel to right. All
formerly 2-light chamfered mullioned casements, those to left gable
now without mullions. West side: 2 gables with scattered 2-light
and former 2-light casements except 4-light casement to ground
floor of left gable. Off-centre doorway with plank door to right
gable. East side: gable end of Lower Court projects forward to
right. Two gables to Lower Court Cottage to left with C19 timber
casements, many in formerly mullioned openings. South part of
Lower Court Cottage runs back to ridge only.
Interior: original fireplaces and roof structure survive in Lower
Court. Restored by the Period Cottage Improvement Society.
Forms part of group with Knapp House (q.v.) and Ferndale.
